Byung Gil KIM 김병길, Bass-Bariton


The bass-baritone Byung Gil Kim was born in Busan / South Korea in 1989. From 2008 to 2014, he graduated at the Kyung Sung University. In 2013 he won the grand prize of the 63rd Gaecheon Art Festival singing competition. In February 2015, he won the first prize of the 7th International Lions Singing Competition of the Opernfestival Gut Immling, where he previously performed as Ariodate in Handel's Xerxes, under the musical direction of Cornelia von Kerssenbrocks. In February of the following year he was to be seen as Figaro in Mozart's "Le nozze di Figaro", and in June as Lindolf, Crespel and Dapertutto in "Les Contes d'Hoffmann". In August of that year, Kim was one of the finalists of the 28th International Concours de Marmande in France. Finally, he made his debut in Rossini's "Petite Messe solennelle" in Freiburg in October 2016. From the season 17/18 he will be a scholarship holder in the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
